Reflexology

Reflexology works on the principle that every organ and system of the body has a corresponding point or zone in the feet.
While not claiming to be a miracle cure, the benefits of reflexology can have a powerful healing effect as it allows our bodies to regain their proper balance.

What does it involve?

You need only remove your footwear.
Gentle pressure is applied to each pressure point and, where there are corresponding physical problems, you may experience some slight discomfort and/or I may feel some blockages in the area. For example, when I touch the reflex point that corresponds to the gall bladder, if you have a problem with that organ, then some discomfort may be felt in the foot. Generally, most clients report that a reflexology treatment is wonderfully relaxing and soothing, and many people fall asleep. Each session will last about an hour and, in most cases, a series of sessions are necessary to resolve any problems. Some clients book a regularly weekly or monthly session as a preventative measure, to keep their systems balanced and in good working order.

What is it good for?

Stress is now believed to be a major cause of physical illness so by reducing tension and improving blood and nerve supply, this complementary therapy can contribute to better overall health.  Reflexology is widely believed to be beneficial for a wide variety of complaints from back pain to migraine to sleep disorders. Some people who've had sports injuries believe that it helped them to recover quicker. Arthritis sufferers have also found it has eased their pain.  Reflexology is believed to be particularly beneficial for circulation, digestion, and respiratory problems. Sinus sufferers maintain that it offers instant relief from congestion. It can also have a dramatic impact on stress levels as well as helping to restore hormonal imbalances.

What are the side effects and when should it be avoided?

On the initial visit, I will go through a confidential consultation with you, including details of your medical history and lifestyle.   It is particularly important you let me know which (if any) medication you are taking.  If you have a pacemaker, kidney stones or gallstones, high blood pressure, thyroid disease or diabetes or you have a foot injury, phlebitis, thrombosis or blood clots, please have a chat with your doctor before booking a Reflexology session.  Please remember that Reflexology is a complementary therapy and although it can have wide reaching health benefits, it is not to be used as a diagnostic tool or as a substitute for visiting your doctor!

Fees

Estelle endeavours to treat each client as an individual, therefore the duration of appointments and fees will vary.
Each treatment – either sports massage or holistic therapy includes a detailed consultation, full postural assessment, formation of a treatment plan and after-care suggestions, which can include stretching exercises.
Treatments are therefore based on £40.00 per hour or £27.00 per half hour.
Estelle is willing to do mobile treatments if you cannot make it into the clinic, but unfortunately an additional £10.00 per visit will apply in most circumstances.  We will do our best to find an appointment time to suit you at the clinic.
